Many restaurants across Illinois run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. First time here at the recommendation of our lunch companions. The quality of the food was truly exceptional. And the portions were very generous. I was especially surprised with how thick cut the sushi was. We enjoyed an assortment of sushi and sashimi along with tempura fried vegetables, hot and sour soup fried chicken karage, avocado tuna and some tasty cocktails. The service was pretty good but slightly uneven, and did have to be reminded about a number of things. The storefront is currently under construction, but it doesn’t affect the interior experience. Menu descriptions Karaage Chicken β€” Japanese fried chicken, togarashi, deep-roasted sesame dipping sauce $12 Lollipop Shrimp β€” fried two-shrimp skewers, sweet chili dipping sauce $12 Cherry Blossom β€” spicy tuna tartar, jalapeΓ±o, cilantro, wrapped in an avocado case, red tobiko, plum sauce $15

Niu B was a great find just around the corner and definitely worth the short walk. The restaurant has a chill, laid back atmosphere that feels comfortable and welcoming without trying too hard. It is the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy a good meal without any fuss. The service was quick and efficient, and the food was right on point. Everything we ordered was flavorful and satisfying, especially considering the reasonable prices for the area. Between the relaxed vibe, solid food, and fast service, Niu B offers a great overall experience. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a casual spot with good food and fair prices.

Went in with some friends and tasted a few different things. Each item was at least good, some great! My fiance said it was the best sushi she's ever had. We loved it so much that when we walked by today we decided to take advantage of their lunch bento box special, which is definitely worth the price!

Super fresh ingredients, great service, and a prime location. This is an awesome spot to stop for a Japanese treat. Our table got a wide variety of types of dishes, and everyone was very satisfied with their choice. Highly recommend stopping here if in the area, it’s the perfect post Field-museum lunch.

One of my favorite Asian fusion spots in the South Loop β€” Niu B. Great sushi + Chinese classics all in one place. Karaage fried chicken = crispy perfection. Mongolian beef = tender and juicy every time. Spicy Girl Maki is a must if you love salmon. Dynamite and Flamer rolls are bold, fun, and super satisfying.
